Computing System for Wheelchair Users

This computing system was designed for power wheelchair users to have access to a computer anytime and anywhere. To develop the system, data related to power wheelchairs and their users, as well as the current state of the art, were analyzed. A focus group interview was conducted to determine the user requirements for the computing system.

Two types of computing systems were developed based on the outcomes of the focus group interview and the analysis of user and technical considerations. One type is designed for independent use by people who can operate the system themselves, while the other type is for users who require assistance in installing the system onto their power wheelchair. The National Rehabilitation Center in Korea funded this project.
