Hand Bike for People with Spinal Cord Injury

Aerobic exercise is crucial for maintaining health and improving the quality of life for those with spinal cord injuries, but there are few exercise devices available to them. This design addresses the need for wheelchair users to engage in aerobic exercise by rotating handles attached to a crank. Users can watch the bicycle wheel turn, providing a sense of riding a bicycle while exercising.

The product also includes a smartphone holder, allowing users to alleviate boredom by viewing content such as video games. The use of a belt system, rather than a chain, eliminates the need for regular maintenance and associated mess.  Additionally, a speed controller allows users to control the product’s speed. The product can be produced using readily available parts, as the client is a startup company catering to a relatively small market.
