Universal ATM
The ATM is designed to be accessible to all users. The lower part of the control area is recessed, making it easily accessible for wheelchair users, and key parts needed for bank transactions, such as card slots, are located within reach of both tall and small users.
With the handset attached, blind users can make bank transactions without having to carry earphones. At the bottom of the control area, there are support rods for people with weak legs, such as the elderly, and hangers are attached to the front of the ATM for hanging bags.
Additionally, a vein recognition device is included, allowing users to recognize their bankbooks or similar documents without having to carry them with them, reducing the hassle of user recognition.
Usability tests were conducted on senior citizens, visually impaired individuals, and wheelchair users to identify any issues or requirements when using ATMs. The results of these tests were combined to create ATM design guidelines, which were used to create prototypes.
